For this week’s published piece, I decided to go short, as in 100 words short. Grant Faulkner, executive director at NaNoWrimo, also spotlights as co-founder and editor of an online literary journal, 100 Word Story. After perusing the journal, I chose two pieces that caught my attention – “Abandonment” and “Royalty.” And since we’ll have less reading to do this week, why not try our hands at 100 words stories. Mugsters, let’s share them at the next meeting!
Here are a couple questions for discussion:
1) Does it work to have a story told in only 100 words? What do you lose/What do you gain?
2) What specific tactics do the authors use to tell their stories in such limited space?
3) What was it like writing your own 100 word story?
